Is 3D The Future Of Gaming?

What separates modern gamers from the previous generations is the impeccable attention to detail by game developers. This realism is what draws people into the world of gaming, from consoles to online games. This is why choosing to become a gamer is truly a lifestyle choice: people spend all of their free time (and their money) making their gaming experience better. 3D gaming is the logical next step.

What could possibly be more realistic than being completely emerged into a game? Now, we just have the high resolution graphics, epically long game lengths and in depth character creation to suck us in. Just look at the success of World of Warcraft, and you will see what realistic gaming (even in a fantasy world) can do to people. Now imagine that WoW was a 3D game? Emersion would be complete.

When I watch Star Trek, the one thing that always continues to fill my imagination is, what would I do with a Halodeck? Would I be able to function in the real world? Would the real world be able to live up to what I can imagine on the Halodeck? This is exactly what 3D game will (eventually) lead us to: complete emersion in a fantasy world.

And this future is coming soon. Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo have all agreed to service 3D gaming, even before the next consoles are available. Sure the initial quality of these 3D games will not equal that of other popular games, but just wait until they have advanced the technology. The next generation of consoles will surely have the majority of their games presented in 3D.

Within the next decade, the days of holding onto a controller and playing a game will be seen a child’s toy. The future is surely 3D, with not only hardcore gamers the target audience, but the general public as well. So strap on your saucony running shoes pick up a remote, and get gaming!
