Within Our Scope.

I wonder why so many of us place such a huge amount of importance on our star signs.

When I am reading a newspaper or magazine and I come across the astrology section then I will not even bother to read it. But a lot of people take it very seriously indeed. I was listening to a programme on the radio a couple of days ago and it said that around twenty percent of people will actually end a relationship if they are advised to do so in their stars. Surely this is a totally ridiculous thing to do?

For instance, there is a different astrology section by a different astrologer in just about any newspaper or magazine; how can they all be right about your relationship? And each of these will not give you the same daily forecast either. If there are a hundred thousand Leos across Britain, then will they all have similar events occurring in their lives on the same day of the week? Personally, I think it is all a bit far-fetched, but who am I to know? Maybe they really will experience an uncanny catalogue of occurrences… Imagine the impact it would have on the housing market if all Scorpios got a ’sell my house online'message in their stars!

However, I do believe that individuals will have certain character traits which are directly linked to their star signs; perhaps not all the time, but certainly a high percentage of it. For example, I am a Gemini and I can instantly recognise much of my own personality when I read about typical Geminian characteristics.

Maybe there really is something to astrology, but I am inclined to think that it is only a small part things. Some people will base their whole lives around their star sign; although it may be that this is a case of seeing only one piece in a jigsaw puzzle and thinking you know what the whole picture is.
