Nikon D40 Digital SLR

As an avid traveller and artist, I wouldn’t be able to live without my Nikon D40. This brilliant digital SLR camera has allowed me to capture, in stunning quality, many of the places I have visited over the years and has allowed me to build a fantastic library of reference images that I can use over and over in my artwork.
Coming in with only 6 mega pixels, many might find that number a little small for today’s cameras and, while it is somewhat off the pace of the newly released SLRs by Nikon and the various other manufacturers, it still does its job superbly. The lower mega pixel count actually helps when blowing up the photo to much larger sizes as less noise is found on the final image.
The D40 is easy to use and easy to maintain. Memory cards slot easily into the side of the camera and you can change everything from the image quality or resolution and the shooting mode to the filter effects and even red-eye correction and keep it in the ample storage space on the camera. This camera is actually brilliant for beginners who want an affordable SLR that delivers excellent quality. Although the Nikon D40 itself is not in production anymore, there is an equivalent model coming in at around the 300 pounds (GBP) price.
The size of the camera is also a plus. It is large enough and has enough weight to it so that you won’t knock it about or become unaware of it, but it is compact enough, and light enough to be carried around all day conveniently. Of course, there are also various lenses that you can buy to increase the zoom on the camera allowing you to get some really great close up shots. All in all, this camera is fantastic and I couldn’t get by without it.
