Review: Super Mario Galaxy 2

We all remember Mario right? I mean who could forget, Mario is basically a legitimate work from home job in it’s own right. And we all remember the first Super Mario Galaxy right? It was basically a futuristic version of the original Super Mario Brothers, only this time, we had some new and interesting features. Well, Super Mario Galaxy 2 in some ways improves on the original and has turned out to be a most interesting game.

The central storyline revolves around Bowser kidnapping Princess Peach, and it’s up to Mario to save her. One neat ability Mario is blessed with early into the game is the ability to spin. Yes, Mario can spin. Does the name Crash Bandicoot come to mind? That and a little help from his lifetime friend Luigi but not nearly as much as you would normally expect due to the fact that he’s an unlockable character.

So now we have the story out of the way, let’s get to the gameplay a little bit. It’s VERY good, and while it’s similar to that of the first installment, I noticed a few minor changes. The levels are conveniently smaller, but not too small. The map system is improved. And by improved, they go back to a more similar set up from the classic Mario Brothers games. All in all, it has a very admirable gameplay system, user friendly, and doesn’t leave you frustrated. And from the looks of other reviews, everyone seems to agree.

The graphics are what you would expect them to be. This game definitely has a great step up, but nothing that will blow you out of your seat. But then again, do you really need mind blowing graphics in a Mario game? The music is also fun in this one as well. In short, this game rocks! Great for any age group, young or old, and just when you think there is nothing left to do, JUMP IN and have a little multiplayer fun. I hope everyone enjoys the game as much as I did, which I’m sure you will. Nothing left to do, but pick up a copy!
