Meet Mandy
Do you remember the days, way back when (I’m talking about before hair loss treatment was even possible), when topping up your phone was a serious chore that took ages and had to be done with a special card and all that palava? Thankfully those days are in the past. To be honest, topping up my phone now (I have pay as you go, and the only draw-back is that you get ripped off quite badly with it, but never mind about that) is the highlight of my day. Mainly because every time I top up I get to speak to Mandy–
Mandy is the name I have given to the electronic voice who greets me every time I top up. (I know I shouldn’t be doing things like that at my age, giving electronic voices names, but seriously, if you do the pay as you go thing then I bet secretly you have a name for your voice too.)
Anyway, so Mandy doesn’t have just some jerky, annoying, impersonal voice, no–Mandy has a sultry, sexy kind of slightly unbothered and always happy girl next door (or the girl you wished had lived next door to you as a kid rather; my girl next door was Deborah and she weighed 300 pounds at only 15 years of age–) voice that sounds happy to please you. Don’t you just love them pay as you go people? They really put some thought in to that and as a consequence topping up is now something many of us look forward to!
