How is it that people can turn their compassion on and off as they see fit? Why is there no sense of strong moral code, which stands stronger than anything else in peoples lives? It seems as though the majority of people have a care and concern about things, people and animals, only as far as it is convenient to. Everyone would presumably avoid murder if at all possible, and would probably condone murder of other men or women. They would also probably claim that they do not agree with mistreatment of animals, or murder of them. Yet when it comes to bringing these moral feelings into being, people forget about them when they become inconvenient. The majority of people would vote to save a cows life if it had been living in a petting farm for the last 10 years, yet they do not object to hundreds of thousands of cows being killed each year so that they can put a quick burger in the oven for tea.

I am not trying to attack individual people and their choices, simply highlight the fact that most people claim to have care and compassion for things, yet when it becomes inconvenient to, they loose their morality and turn a blind eye. An HR Software designer would not claim to know about software until it was inconvenient to, they either know it or they do not. Surely then, the same is true for all things? If you know something to be right or wrong, how is it possible to turn around in a different circumstance and claim to be ignorant, or to have a different view on what is right or wrong?

This world would be a much better, and simpler place to be if people decided what they thought was fundamentally right or wrong, and then stuck to that decision throughout all the different aspects of life. This would mean that if someone thought it was wrong to kill a cow that they had grown fond of, it would be wrong to kill any cow. If it is wrong to kill a dog or horse for meat, it is wrong to kill a cow or pig for meat. If it is wrong to take the eggs of a Peregrine Falcon, it is wrong to take the eggs of a chicken. If it is wrong to take a human baby from its mother, it is wrong to take a piglet from its mother.

Apple Inc. is planning to upgrade its iOS. The company is hopeful to make the new service available for consumers in the later part of 2011. The update will be focused on allowing iOS gamers to obtain a better gaming experience. Such upgrade may not be able make iOS a perfect platform for games; however, it is going to be a real proof that Apple is on track.

Apple debuted its iOS 4 in its social network component Game Center. Today, Game Center has been utilized by a number of game developers to work more than just connecting friends and view each other’s game achievements. It’s not a good thing to know that the capability of Game Center is underutilized by iOS developers. What change could they there be with iOS 5?

iOS gamers will be amazed to see the changes in the upgraded iOS 5. Part of Apple’s plan is to add iCloud, a new cloud-based service which will now focus on gaming and would truly benefit gamers.

According to Apple, they are moving to socialize its gaming platform with the new iOS 5. With this upgrade, you can add a profile picture, get suggestions for adding new friends and know who are following you.

The overhauled Game Center will allow scoring according to your overall achievements.

As part of the iCloud service of Apple, there will be plenty of interesting benefits to come your way. For now, you can sign up for free to get storage space of 5GB so you can store your apps, music files and photos and thus no need for a R4i card. You better get hurry as rumors are abound that Apple will charge $25 per year after these limited free subscriptions.

I love technology and there’s no doubt it has made all our lives easier and more pleasurable. There’s always a downside to that, though, and in my opinion this is the fact that technology advances have made it easier for all of us to do work at home. Not so long ago, we clocked out at 5pm on a Friday afternoon and that was that. Unless you could phsyically take home paper reports or calculations, then your weekend was work-free.
Now, if you have a tight deadline then there is definitely the pressure on workers to “take some work home” over the weekend. As I say, I have several emails in my inbox with messages from my new boss; suggestions of sites I should check out, reports I should read, forms I can get filled in online now and save time when I get into the office on Tuesday. I know I should get it all done and make a good impression on the new boss, but when the sun is shining, it’s just too tempting to switch off the laptop and get out there and enjoy it. After all, when was the last time you can remember having a sunny bank holiday??

I hadn’t touched Halo until yesterday. Yes and if your wondering, it been a long time since the game had come out but i felt the gap I was in, the experience I missed out on. The thrill when you sit and wait in the interim 5 days away from the launch of the sequel. But with no regrets, the game is till in circulation. I picked up one for 50 pence from a second hand store.
The point to be made is at that time, Halo was a creation made from base to up reaching infinity. The story made from thin air didn’t necessarily create havok in the games industry at the time (with the release of the usual supermarios and GTA 3 stealing the show) Halo was not fully recognized but it got enough attention. The sequel was not the kind that beats its predecessor but Halo 3 was the icing on the cake. It gave the new potential console purchaser to go for the Xbox 360 rather than the PS3. From there on, Halo ODST and Reach have been smash hits. Unfortunately I don’t have the money to afford another console (as I own a PS3) but surely I will get my hands on it later.
While new solitaire model games will still remain all time classics, Halo will be remembered for up lifting the new age spirits of shooters to a whole a different dimension. Taking the war to outer space got Halo the honor it now receives. It surely was a watershed moment of 2001.

How often do you actually think about the energy it takes to power your laptop, PC, X-Box or PS3? All of these machines consume vast quantities of energy, almost 100 watts more than a standard 32” LCD TV consumes. Interestingly most of the peripherals hardly use any energy at all – the X-Box wireless controllers do not even register on the consumption lists mostly because they are always in radio communication with the machine itself.

So why all this talk of energy? Well believe it or not me and Jarade have been stung recently with high fuel bills and as a result have been analysing our consumption levels. To do this we had to find a product that would enable us to determine how much energy all our gadgets and machines were using accurately. This proved more challenging than either of us thought and as a result we were led down the garden path several times. It was only when we came across the Enigin scam busters site that we realised just how many cons there are out there trying to make a quick buck from people trying to be more economically and ecologically efficient.

I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve been told to reduce my carbon footprint over the years, but like all things it has only really been the increase in energy bills and rising global dismay at the crisis that has made both myself and Jarade stop to think about this seriously.

We got our hands on an Eniscope; a unique energy analyser that allows us to accurately track exactly what our consumption rates are by product, e.g. X-Box, PC, Laptop, TV etc etc. To me it came as no surprise that the X-Box consumed nearly 170 watts of power per second compared to our 32” LCD TV which only consumed 80 watts per second. 170 watts is the equivalent to powering 3 light bulbs for one second. You may not think that sounds like a lot, but when you think about how many hours you play an X-Box compared to the number of hours you keep the lights on in your house, the numbers start to make you think twice. It made both Jarade and I stop in our tracks.

Both Jarade and I will always continue to game and no doubt we will always burn more energy then we really should. However the Eniscope has already made us both change our habits to the extent that we turn all the power to the machines off directly from the plugs now. As beginnings go, it’s not a bad one.

Overall, I liked the initial feel of the Lumia. It was definitely not chunky, it was slim and sleek, with its rounded polycarbonate shell, and comfortably light. It was interesting to learn that the Nokia Lumia 800 has a unibody design – the battery cannot be taken out. On second thoughts, that may be a fashion that is going to catch on, and after all it doesn’t seem inconvenient, to me at least. Another thing I liked were the top flaps for the charging port and the SIM slot.

Crisp images and good contrast were my next concern. What I established was good colour depth, good contrast and vivid colours. My impression was that the screen was a little too small, so I was naturally worried about the experience I would get using the Internet and other media. Yet another paramount feature was the storage capacity. I found Nokia Lumia 800 has 16 GB to offer – a reasonable amount, by my standards (I tend to store a hefty amount on my phone, not only documents, but videos too).

Well, I liked the features Nokia Lumia 800 offers, bundled with the reasonable price. I bought it, and so far it hasn’t disappointed my expectations.

Recently there have been ripe speculations in a number of editorials on some of the more popular tech blogs about the failings of Microsoft’s operating system. There was also a so called leaked memo hat pointed to greater number of apps for devices that use Windows Phone 7. One site even reported that in the U.S. AT&T will be the first carrier that will be offering LTE-enabled devices. So Windows Phone 7 is not dead yet and if they can get their updates, carrier support, and device and app availability right, it could end up dominating the marketplace.

When you walk into a phone store and look on any pop up stand you are not likely to see a Windows Phone 7. When you do chances are you will end being a happy camper. These Smartphones tend to have a high level of satisfaction amongst users.

In my opinion Windows Phone 7 provides users with the better parts of both Android and iOS. What you will find is that there is a clean hub-based interface, it is customizable, and it is unique.

Other features that many will love include the ability of the user to choose from a number of handset designs, quick updates from Microsoft, greater integration and multitasking with available apps, and no need to hard reset any phone.

It is these and other features that make the Windows Phone 7 operating system a well needed one. This, especially when you consider that some of the other players are exiting the marketplace. Android and IOS are the main players but they still have certain flaws that users are unhappy with. An improvement in Windows Phone 7 may end up irking the others to make an improvement.

As noted above should Microsoft make the necessary updates and changes the Windows Phone 7 operating system can be the dominant one on the market for SmartPhones.

One of the main reasons for the switch to gaming consoles is usually the fact that the newer games require much stronger computers and laptops. A proper gaming laptop appears to be far more expensive than a Playstation console or an Xbox platform. Thus people tend to separate their experience into two parts – computing is one thing but gaming nowadays appears to be completely different. Rather than spending thousands for a gaming laptop that would support the newest games, people can just get a gaming platform for video games and be sure that no matter how amazing a game can look and run, it would be absolutely compatible with the platform, without hardware or software requirements that are risky and not always covered by a laptop or a PC.

On the other hand, PS and Xbox consoles offer extreme experience. You can play your favorite games over the HD screen at your home – easily, with great detail, stunning graphics and absolutely amazing sound. Furthermore, playing a video game would never cause any problems and hardship over the playing machine and small things that matter such as joysticks, additional controllers and special gaming accessories additionally expand the desire of users to go away from computer gaming.

So people are now trending to do things rather different. They will still browse online for their ortak jewellery, they will still work on their PCs – however, it is now difficult to find computer gaming fans simply because the market offers something better, more efficient, cheaper and more reliable – the various gaming platforms for video gaming.

Just take the example of Windows XP and Windows 7. There is no doubt that Windows 7 is a good operating system. However, there are many persons who are comfortable with Windows XP and see no reason to switch. However, Windows XP is no longer legally available in the market for a new purchaser. In such a scenario, you have no option but to push yourself and purchase a copy of Windows 7 operating system. There is an underlying hidden presumption that Windows 7 is better than Windows XP.
The sad part is that nobody knows how it will help improve one’s computing experience. Apple has incorporated this approach as a part of its production planning. Planned obsolescence is an integral part of technology solutions. This is the reason why you have touch screen phones when smart phones seem to do the job perfectly fine. Constant upgrading of technology may be the essential when you have the responsibility of enterprise data management for your firm or if you participating in cutting edge research and require the best and the most efficient tech solutions at all times.

However, on all other occasions, you can stay away from the planned obsolescence and stick to technology that you are comfortable with. There is no need to change unless you see any benefit in doing so.

As you all should know by now the iPad 2 was released not so long ago. What you may not be aware of is the fact that people are already talking about the iPad 3. Yes you read right, the iPad 3.

Rumours are already abound that the iPad 3 has already been made and shipped to a number of retail outlets. Now they are predicting what will be included in the new device including features such as retina displays, camera, and a bigger chip set. If you follow the rumour mongers the iPad will have graphic as good as a Paul Horton print. Wishful thinking I say.

Many are saying the iPad 3 will be released sometime in September this year. This would make it just a few months after that of the iPad 2, so it is highly unlikely. I guess we will see.

Some are saying that the new iPad 3 will come fitted with a dual core processor called the Apple A6. This again is really difficult to accept as the iPhone 5 is expected to have an A5 not an A6 so it is more likely that an A5 will be in the iPad 3. Now if it is that the iPad 3 will have an A6 then chances are it won’t be released until sometime next year as the chip makers as not releasing these types until late this year.

It is also rumoured that an NFC chip will be included which means that users will be able to access and use your setting and data by simply flicking your wrist.
